There are nearly 9,300 households on the housing register in Brighton & Hove. The council’s New Homes For Neighbourhoods programme provides much needed new homes, by working with local residents and ward councillors to make best use of council owned land and to improve their neighbourhoods.
The proposal is to build 42 new apartments on the Former Victoria Road Housing Office site. In order to facilitate this, the council has submitted a planning application for a new Sports Pavilion in Victoria Recreation Ground to accommodate Portslade Bowls Club, a new artificial bowling green as well as football changing room facilities (to meet the FA’s Step 7 minimum requirements).
The intention will be to build out the Sports Pavilion first, move Portslade Bowls Club into their new premises and then clear the remainder of the site in readiness to develop new council homes.
We would really like to hear your views before we finalise the design of the housing scheme and submit our planning application.
