Brighton & Hove City Council is seeking your views/experiences of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) in Brighton & Hove.

Thank you for your interest in sharing your views with Brighton & Hove City Council on the important issue that is VAWG.

Please do not include anything that might identify yourself or anyone else.

The term VAWG (Violence Against Women and Girls) is an umbrella term for a range of crime types that disproportionately affect all females. These include;

  • domestic abuse
  • sexual violence including rape
  • sexual exploitation
  • sexual harassment
  • stalking
  • ‘honour-based’ violence (HBV)
  • forced marriage
  • faith based abuse
  • female genital mutilation (FGM) or cutting
  • forced prostitution and human trafficking
  • violence against women in public spaces
  • online abuse

Brighton & Hove City Council is undertaking this survey to inform the development of the city’s forthcoming Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) Strategy. We are looking for your views and experiences to understand how safe all women and girls are in Brighton & Hove. This survey will focus on the of anyone over the age of 16 years old.

We are interested in your direct or indirect experience of VAWG, as victims of these crimes, as bystanders to these crimes, your experience of seeking support and your suggestions for how to make Brighton & Hove safer for everyone.

We are interested in the views of all residents including all men and boys on their experiences of these crimes.

The final section of this survey asks questions about you. This information will help focus the survey on the experiences of those who live, study and work in Brighton & Hove.

The information will be kept confidential and will not be traced back to you as an individual. The information will be kept for statistical and research purposes only and stored securely. If you do not wish to respond to a question, you will be able to move onto the next question.
