Surrenden Area Residents Parking Consultation

Closed 17 Feb 2020

Opened 3 Jan 2020

Overview

In November 2018 the Environment, Transport and Sustainability committee agreed that we'd find out the level support for a resident parking scheme.

And if there is support, what days and hours residents would like the parking scheme to be active.

Why We Are Consulting

In August 2015 we asked Surrenden area residents about being in a controlled parking scheme.

At the time only a small area closer to Fiveways were in favour of a scheme. This area was then included in the Zone F scheme.

Residents took petitions to the Environment, Transport and Sustainability committee in June 2016 and January 2017.

The committee agreed that the Surrenden area should be added to the parking timetable in October 2017.

Residents gave a speech and Withdean ward councillors presented a letter to the committee on 26 June 2018. They asked for the consultation for a scheme to be brought forward.

What Happens Next

We'll take the results to the Environment, Transport and Sustainability committee in June 2020.

If there's strong support, and the committee recommends for us to go ahead, the next step would be to consult with residents again with a detailed design.

The detailed design will include more information about a new parking scheme. This will let residents have another chance to give us their views.
