Brunswick Town Conservation Area Character Statement

Closed 4 May 2022

Opened 30 Mar 2022

Overview

The council has commissioned consultants the RSK Group to undertake a review of the Brunswick Town Conservation Area Character Statement. The aim of the Character Statement is to define the ‘special interest’ of the area, through a thorough assessment of its history and its character and appearance.

The appraisal process should lead to a better understanding of the areas historic development, what makes it the special place it is today and its potential for its future conservation and enhancement.

Early engagement took place with local amenity and resident groups and local businesses in late 2021 and a draft Character Statement has now been produced for wider public consultation until 5pm on Wednesday 4th May 2022.

The draft Character Statement can be viewed here and is also available on the 'questions' page of this consultation.

What happens next

Following the consultation the council will assess the responses and ask the consultants to revise the Character Statement as appropriate.

We then intend to report the final document, together with a summary of the consultation, to the Tourism, Equalities, Communities and Culture committee in June 2022.
