Overview

Rampion wants to hear from you

Rampion Extension Development Limited is consulting on its proposals to expand the windfarm off the coast of Sussex.

Because of its scale and energy output, this is a Nationally Significant Infrastructure Project. This means the Planning Inspectorate considers whether or not to grant a Development Consent Order.

The project team are looking for feedback on:

  • their initial assessment of the onshore and offshore impacts for the environment, community and economy
  • proposed ways to avoid or reduce these impacts
  • their early thinking on the project and the ways they plan to minimise the impacts of construction on local communities
  • the benefits and drawbacks of substation and cable route alignment proposals, where there are options being considered

Other engagement

Rampion's project team invite residents to engage with their proposals, including:

  • viewing maps
  • watching videos
  • attending an online public forum with the project team

Residents will have the option to fill in a consultation response form to give feedback.

Our response to the consultation

Brighton & Hove City Council will be responding to this consultation as a local authority and a consultee on the application.

The council wants to represent the interests of the city and play an active role in the consultation of this proposal.

The council expects to give a formal response on the benefits and impacts of the application when Rampion submit it.

What happens next

The application is then expected to be submitted to the Planning Inspectorate in early 2022.

The Secretary of State will decide whether to approve the application for Development Consent Order after another formal consultation.

How to give your feedback at this stage

Anyone can review the materials provided by Rampion for the consultation or respond to the Rampion consultation which runs until 16 September 2021.
