Draft Urban Design Framework Supplementary Planning Document (UDF SPD)

Closed 11 Dec 2020

Opened 23 Oct 2020

As the city grows the council will be presented with proposals for new developments. This provides the opportunity to improve existing areas and shape new places. It also opens up new possibilities to design climate-friendly buildings and open spaces.

The council has prepared a new design guidance that looks at opportunities to deliver better design outcomes from new development in the city.

Tell us what you think of the Draft Urban Design Framework Supplementary Planning Document (UDF SPD) that, once adopted, will guide decisions on planning applications.

Why your views matter

As a first step, in 2018, the council consulted city residents and stakeholders on the type and content of this guidance. The findings of this early consultation informed the preparation of this Draft UDF SPD which is currently subject to city-wide consultation.

The Council is now inviting comments on this draft version of the guidance. Views put forward during the city-wide consultation will feed into the final version of the guidance.

What happens next

Respondents to this consultation will have an opportunity to see how their contributions have shaped the final document when it is taken back to the council’s Tourism, Equalities, Communities & Culture Committee for adoption in early 2021.
