We Asked, You Said, We Did

Here are some of the issues we have consulted on and their outcomes. See all outcomes

We asked

In November 2021, we wrote to residents in the Roedean area to gauge if there was support for the introducton of a residents parking scheme.

80% of respondents were in favour of a residents parking scheme.

Therefore in June 2022, we wrote to residents in the area again with a detailed parking design drawing for this area.

You said

Following the recent detailed design parking consultation in the Roedean area, the council did not receive a significant level of support for a scheme from residents to proceed at this time.

We did

Full results and further information can be found in the committee report from the Environment, Transport and Sustainability Committee report from September 2022.

We asked

In November 2021, residents in the Hallyburton Road area were written to to gauge whether there was support for a residents parking scheme.

The results from this initial consultation showed that 72.9% of respondents supported the introduction of a resident parking scheme.

Therefore, in June 2022 we wrote to residents and businesses in this area again and asked if they would support a light-touch residents’ parking scheme.

The proposed scheme would be active Monday to Friday from 10am to 11am and from 5pm to 6pm.

You said

69 residents responded to the consultation.

  • 60.9 % of residents support a light touch residents parking scheme
  • 63.3% or residents support a scheme to operate from 11 am to 12 noon and from 6pm to 7pm (5 days a week, Monday to Friday)

You can find more information and full consultation results in the September 2022 Environment, Transport and Sustainability Committee report.

We did

Based on the consultation results and following the Environment, Transport and Sustainability committee in September 2022, we will be advertising a Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) on 11 November 2022.

The results of this will be presented to the Environment, Transport and Sustainability committee in January 2023. The committee will decide what happens next.

We asked

After residents presented a petition in March 2019 to the Environment, Transport and Sustainability Committee, we agreed to write to residents and businesses in the Hollingdean area to see if there is general support for a residents parking scheme.

We asked if residents and businesses in this area would support a full scheme (operating Monday to Sunday 9am – 8pm) or a light-touch scheme (operating for two separate one hour periods during the day).

You said

Based on the results of the consultation officers recommended a smaller area be taken forward for a detailed design consultation as shown in the map below entitled ‘Hollingdean smaller area consultation boundary’.

The results of the smaller area show that 61% of respondents support a residents parking scheme with 52% supporting a full scheme.

More information and results of the full area and smaller area can be found in the attachments below.

We did

Following approval at the Environment, Transport & Sustainability Committee on 20 September 2022, we will be taking forward a detailed design for a smaller area of Hollingdean.

Prior to this we will write again to the areas outside of the smaller area to see if they would like to be included in the detailed design consultation.
